Gold in my back yard!!

Listen to this,

I have lived in my current house for one year. The man that owns property behind me has 8 acres. I've only spoken to him once before when I saw him out there. He saw me today and came over to talk. I got around to asking him if I could MD his land when I get mine. He said sure... and went on to tell me that just recently on the other end of his property he caught a man panning for gold in his little creek. The man didn't realize it was his property. My neighbor didn't really care anyways because he thought it was a silly idea. BUT he said the man told him he had found $750 worth of gold in there in just one day!!! Then the next weekend my neighbor said the man was surrounded by police down further where it runs under a bridge and they were telling him he can't pan for gold on public property. -That all minerals are state property...
Of course now I'm thinking I need to either learn how to pan for gold or get a MD that finds gold!!! He also said even if I did pan for gold on his property it would be the states property. But he would still let me do it!

I thought this was a pretty cool bit of info. I live in south Cherokee Co. GA But the north part (big county) is the area known for the gold.

What MD would be the best for the $$ that would allow me to nuggett shoot as well as find relics, coins, etc...??
