Default What do you nugget shooters use...?

Hi all,

Since no one answered my post about GOLD in my backyard.. What kind of MD would you guys recommend to find GOLD nuggets, veins, whatever.. (They'd probably be in or around the creek I mentioned in my other post.) BUT, one that would also find everything else? OR, should I just go with the ACE 250 like I had planned on and/or learn to pan for GOLD. Would the ACE 250 detect GOLD at all??

Thanks,

Kenny

Default Gold

KENNY, The ACE250 will detect gold. With the 250 in jewlery or all metal mode with the sensitivity at about 3/4 thrust it will detect gold nuggets. I have already tried it and it performs well. There are higher priced models that would probably do a better job but for my money I would go with the 250...PAPPY

Most coin detectors including the Ace 250 are not suitable for nugget hunting as they operate on very low frequencies. VLFs designed for nugget shooting operate on higher frequencies for small gold detection( eg Goldbug, GMT). Serious nugget hunters prefer PIs which have superior depth to VLFs in mineralized ground.
However, your question was for a detector that can do all three (coin, relic, gold nugget. There is only a handfull that can do all three MXT, X-5,and Tesoro LST. Minelab's new TerraX-50 will have a higher frequency coil. The first accessory coil for the X-Terra 50 will be the 9" 'DD' 18.75 Khz High Frequency coil and considering the good reviews would be the one I would recommend.

Thanks Pappy and George,

I looked at all your suggested MD's George but who makes the X-5? Most of these are out of my price range for right now. I'll probably stick with the ACE 250 and keep these in mind for future buys.

Cool

KENNY
I have the LoBO ST, and I can say that it will find GOLD of almost any size. They are reasonable to purchase and have a lifetime guarantee. There are different coils for different hunting styles. It is good for Gold and Coins, plus it has auto ground balance with make it a turn on and go machine. I think you would be real happy with the LoBo ST.
