Hey Coyote.....
That's cool you found a meteorite...just wanted to share this short story with you....I was reading the other day on the Internet that a farmer from Kansas found a 1400 pound meteorite in his field back in October. He was saying that the type of meteorite it was because of it's looks and makeup was worth between $20- $40 per gram! I caculated using the $40.00 per gram figure and estimated that the meteorite that was found.... worth over $2.5 million dollars!!! Keep digging over there.....Meteorites are rare to find and they could be a BIG treasure! Happy Hunting John |

John - that would be some find - I am surprised that no one here has located something of that nature - not as big - but something on a smaller scale - when the snow leave the ground - I have located a meteorite crater that I want to work on. We will see...

One needs to hunt in All Metals to find these. Most of the discriminators will either ignore or null out on these. Although I have never found one I know that Keith Wills has and he can probably give better advise than me. Good Hunting!!!

Saw a show on PBS about a guy with a 4 wheeler towing a large PVC Pipe coil to find meteors in farm fields. They found one 10ft down. They were talking about huge values per pound (don’t recall exactly). There was also a segment about a boutique style shop selling meteors and fragments mounted or cut cross-section, all selling for high dollar amounts. Meteors can millions of years old and rich space enthusiasts will pay lots of money apparently. The cross sections looked cool too.
