Default Thick grass and underbrush

What is the best way to get through areas which are really overgrown. Do you recommend taking a sling blade or something. Some of the areas I am looking at the grass is so high you can't get the coil on the ground. It is usually about 7-8 inches high and is bahaia or bermuda grass. The areas are on private property of which you have permission to hunt.

Make sure it is ok with the owner. even if you have permission to hunt you might not have permission to cut grass! Of course if you want to cut mine come on over. Try the sling blade or ask if you can use a weed-eater! I want to ask the owner of the place I am hunting on now if we could use a weed-eater with the circular saw end to take out some of the scrub trees and brush!

Talking Thick Grass and Underbrush

The 1st option is to mow the grass. If that is too much work, you can use a 4 by 8 foot section of plywood to flatten the grass and move it accordingly. This is probably the easiest method plus the area will be left almost in it's original state!!! Good Hunting!!!

I use a 2'x2' piece if peg board and stomp it down a little then swing my detector over it if i get a hit i poke a small rod through the closest hole in the peg board lift the board out of the way and dig. the grass will recover in a week or two and faster if it rains.
Since i brought up rain i have a piece of plex glass i drilled with holes to use in wet areas instead of peg board.

Default My suggestion

If it is as dry there as here in Montana just throw down a match, you will have several hundred acres cleared in no time. Just kidding. The fires here are getting bad. Dry thunder storms rolling thru every night and seem to start more fires.
I have tried the plywood method before, it works great if you are in an open area.
