Question Some lower farm frustration

I have been hitting the lower part of our farm for about 2 weeks. There is a house, still standing, on this part of the farm that has been nearly constantly inhabited since the 1860s.

The Ace 250 has given me a reasonable amount of finds plus a few Wheaties. The finds thus far seem to be ca. 1935-1950 at about 3 to 4 inches. Obviously, people started dropping things well before 1935.

How do I get my Ace to show me the silver that must be below the level that I am finding? I tried this evening to discriminate out all but silver and set the sensitivity almost to max. All I got was a wildly bouncing pointer that would lock steadily on nothing. One would think a good coin target would lock at least in the silver coin range. There is enough trash to make "dig everything" a lifetime commitment..

Any advice on how to divide and conquer this acreage..... Am I expecting too much from my Ace?

Still very much a newbie,
HJ

Default Ace250

HJ, You are NOT expecting too much from your 250. Notch out EVERYTHING from FOIL up to PENNY even the NICKLE. CUT your sensetivity down to about a 3 or 4...DO NOT RUN IT WIDE OPEN.... IF you encounter a nickle it will still lock in on the nickle BUT it will not give you an audible tone.( Keep your eye on your screen while you are swinging)TRY THIS and give us a report on how it did....PAPPY
