Default Me Too

Just found some very similar pieces of "slag" or metal on an estate in kentucky, nearby a small creek. My theories are:

1. A burn site of some sort. Would have been a fairly hot burn. Either a building with aluminum and other metal that melted and dripped onto dirt. Also, could have been a trash pit of some sort where the waste was burned.
2. A metal working shop....i.e., blacksmith or foundry of some kind. Kentucky has plenty of civil war history but even more horse history. I imagine they could have used the stream to cool equipment and even harness power, although it's a small stream. What kind of historical past does your site have? Reasearch what others already have and you may find your answer. That's what I'm trying to do with my site right now.

Keep us updated. Although we may have simply found trash, it's fun to dream.

I have come across the same thing and didn't know what it was until I took it to a jeweler. He said it was a melted aluminum can. If there are tiny holes or pock marks in the "ore" then that's from bubbles forming and popping as the can melted.
