Default Decipher pinpointing

Hi e1,
Lets say you decide to retrieve a target you think is a coin but your not sure. You pinpoint it. you dig your plug and recheck the hole. All of a sudden the target pinpoint has moved. Now the response is at the side of the hole. I pride myself on pinpointing. A coin is always in the center of my hole when i cut the plug which is only 5 inches in diameter.
What is my machine telling me when after i cut the plug and recheck the hole, and the target pinpoint has move 4 inches. Is it junk? When this happens can i assume its junk and put the plug back and stop diggin, and save myself some time?
i just got a Garett master hunter and maybe i'm just not used to it yet, except i've had other Garetts and never had this problem if I remember correctly.
Ty in advance for the feedbackl.
