Hi BJ,

I had an XT50, upgraded to an Explorer II because l) the amount of positive feedback on this particular machine is remarkable; 2) my reading convinced me multiple fx technology was more than hype. I can vouch for the quality of the XT50, but the fact is, I'm diggin less trash and finding more coins with the ExII. I looked at the Quattro, but for me the ExII was worth the extra bucks.

Hi and welcome. In my opinion , since you've used Whites for so long I'd stick with them unless you can get the EXII .Don't stop at the Quattro. The EXII is overall a better detector. Hoever , the XLT is a proven winner and I know you'll like the ease of upgrading to it from the 6000. The 6000 series are some of the best detectors ever made but I think the versatility of the XLT will help you tremendously. Let me know if you need any help on your purchase or with any more questions.
Thanks

Hello BigJohn, If you are used to Whites then I would stay with them. I still have my Whites 4900 when I started detecting about 13 years ago. It is a pretty deepseeker. But on the other hand if your going to give Minelab a chance I would recommend the Explorer II without a doubt ! The X-TERRA series is also a great bunch of detectors from Minelab but the Explorer II is a powerful instrument ! If you need any advice or help BigJohn just give us a ring. God Bless you.

Hi John,
The XLT and Eagle Spectrum are my primary detectors for land hunting due to versatility ,coverage speed, coil selection, target id, both tone and vdi. Over the winter months I hunted a large complex using the XLT and Spectrum and followed up with Minelab Advantage, Sov Gt, Whites IDX ,and X Terra 50 and a few others. The XLT hit about 80% of the finds over a 3 week period and the other detectors found the other 20% over an additional 6 week period in the higher trash areas. I tried the DFX and it didn't do very well in my area . I have the 6000 di Pro sl and prefer the XLT or Spectrum .When you learn to use the digital controls as you would a dial control the XLT is easy and the Signa Graph is a plus also. I've seen some finds from a very experienced XLT user that would put an end to the lack of depth issue on the XLT. The DFX is better at Salt Beaches. The Explorer is probably the deepest but a bit slower.

Good luck with your choice. HH Bill
