Lake beaches

I ask in general discussion post before I saw this Q&A place. What would be a good detector to buy to hunt lake beaches & out in the water? Guess I'll learn eventually but I like reading these forums to help me learn quicker. I have a XLT now but after reading these posts,I'm scared I'll get it wet. Whaddyathink?

Hi Butch;
I am partial to the Tesoro Tiger Shark water detector. It has a fresh water and a salt water mode switch which allows you to use it at the shore or inland waters.

It has been said to be one of, if not the best detector for water hunting that there is. I know it is hot on gold rings, it really bangs out a signal.

Unlike the other detectors that have 1,3,5 year etc. warranties the Tiger Shark has a lifetime warranty which is the best in the busness.

I use the old Tesoro Stingray ll which I have sent in for check ups with no warranty problems at all. The reason I still use my Stingray ll is because I can not justify purchasing a TigerShark when my old one still does the job.

That sounds like some solid info . I checked the website & e mailed a couple dealers for a price & deal. Anyone recomend a place to get the best price & service on one of these things?
