Smile Predator Model 85 Digging tool

Boobie
I did alot of research on the tool as well as the Rapator, (thinking about buying it also). Price wise all of the sites that I checked was asking about the same price. I finally decided to order directly from Predator.

Some of the sites would only id the tool as Leschie not a Predator 85 tool,(I remember you said there was a difference). It was on that criteria that I decide to order directly form the company.

I also found a tool at Target made by Fiskar that resembles a digging knife. It appears to be constructed better than most of the cast digging tools I have tried to have them break after several times digging with them. It wass also a heck of alot cheaper $10.00 as opposed to $42.00

Going to use both to see how they perform. the Fiskar I am sure probably won't be as sturdy as the Predator.
I am going to try to get out this weekend if it doesn't rain like the prediction says it will.

Will let you know.

Default Predator Model 85 Digging Tool--WOW

I am down rite impressed with this digging tool. I believe you could dig into concrete and never destroy the digger.
I have used it several times over the past couple of weeks and it has dug holes that I wouldn't have tried with any other digger that is not in the same class as the Model 85. I highly recommend this digger well worth the money.

Basset,

How does the Fiskar hold up? I am interested in obtaining a Predator 85, I have heard so many good reviews about it. But until I get around to ordering the P-85, I am interested in obtaining the Fiskar since I have trouble with my garden spades breaking. We have a Target locally. I bought on eBay not long ago some digging tools made for MDing called the EZ-DigR and one called the DigR... they are well made and do work... they tear through tough grass roots with ease, however I find that I use the garden spade along with them anyways...

Default Fiskar vs Predator 85

I have used both
The Predator 85 I feel out digs the Fiskar when it comes to digging in hard ground and soft, especially ground that has gravel, (hard packed gravel driveways in old drive-in movie lots), in it or rocks that you may have to pry up. The two points on the front of the Fiskar I feel will break off after a lot of usage. I guess if this happens a file would dress it up right away.
In soft or hard ground the Predator will dig a neater hole than the Fiskar.
I like them both but I still prefer the Predator. I don’t regreat spending the money for the Predator.
I will still carry the Fiskar as a back-up just in case. </p>

I have the 36" Ground Shark which I like alot for areas that I really can dig, but would like to get a smaller one and I was also considering the predator, thanks to all the posts, now I'm convinced.

I'm currently using a hunting knife and stainless trowel, but neither are that great for difficult conditions.

Nice job on the home made digger 52!
