Default pinpoint probe.. which one??

For next season, I'm looking into picking up a pinpoint probe. I feel like I've gone without one long enough. Now.. which to get. I like the idea of the inline model

http://www.sunraydetector.com/sun_ra..._xl-1_page.htm

But I'm concerned about:
a) durability
b) performance issues with the detector
c) weight

I'm wondering if the hand held unit is the best way to go??

Any ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks!

I have a vibra probe and love it. Can't compare to others cuz I read this forum and this is the one everyone suggested so I got it. Good luck.

Awesome! Thanks for the info.

Vibraphone is new to me. I just Google'd it up. How is battery life with the vibration vs tone? I would think it would need more juice to vibe.

Also boobieinPa.. the SunRay, is there a weight issue being attached to the detector? Is it significant? And more importantly, since it's inline do you have any issues with signal loss, etc? I definitely do NOT want to compromise my detector's performance.

Thanks for the information. This place is great!

The Vibra-Phone and the Vibra-Probe 560 are two different things. The Vibra-Phone plugs into the headphone jack of your Metal Detector and converts the audio into vibration. It is not a pinpointer.

The Vibra-Probe 560 is the handheld pinpointer. It has no audio, only vibration. As for battery life, the VP560 has an automatic shut-off after one minute of non-detecting... therefore preserving the battery life. To turn it back on, you must aim the probe in the "up" position until it vibrates, then it is ready for use... I always keep additional batteries for backup for my detector and the vibraprobe, however I have never changed the 9v battery in the VP560 since I bought it a few weeks ago... it works great.

As boobie mentioned, if you can afford the Sunray, go for it... I personally never had any experience with it before, however I trust boobie's judgement on his equipment. Good luck with your purchase!

Stephan - thanks for the info - I never realized there was such a thing as a vibra phone. You learn something new every day. Thanks again. JoAnne

Thanks for the info. I think I'm going to go with this unit, but first need to decide if I'm going to make the plunge and pick up the DFX.. if so I'll get the unit for that. I wish it would work for both DFX and XLT.. but makes sense why it wouldn't. I'm still thinking that the vibraProbe might be a good purchase too.

Thanks for everyone's advice.
