Default Explorer SE Smartfind question

When ever i go over a target the smartfind cursor goes to a point of what the object is. Then if i find another target close by the tone changes but the cursors seems to lock on to the first target and won't update unless i pull up the coil and it finally updates to the last target i was going over. Is this Normal? I heard people talking about slow response times before with the cusor update, but i have swung the coil over the second target for a least 5 seconds with no update. Seems like I have to give it a break by removing the coil from a target for it to catch up. Also wondering if in Digital if it does the same thing. Or is there just something wrong with my detector?
The detector still works, I just have to listen to the tones more than the display. Just curious.

Thanks for your help!
John

Hi John, don't worry your detector is working fine. Even though the Explorer SE has a much improved recovery speed you need to pace your swings a bit. The numerical digital readout is a reflection of the smartfind crosshair window. I personally prefer the Numerical readout. I also hunt in all-metal all the time and correlate the tones with the readout to determine what the target may be. Sometimes I will get a little to quick and have to slow down and let the threshold tone reset. If your in a trashy environment then the 10.5 in. coil can see mutiple targets and do the masking think to you John. There are smaller coils available for your SE also. I would recommend the SunRay 5.5 in. coil. Ok John if you need anything else just give a shout and in the meantime practice and be patient because you are swinging the world's finest FBS detector! God Bless ya John and happy hunting!
