Default Question on the White's DFX model

I currently own a White's Eagle Spectrum that I purchased in 1994 The unit does a great job and I know the machine well. I've been hearing about this unit called the DFX. Dual frequencies, and a much lighter unit than the Spectrum, icons rather than word print out. My question is, does the DFX give more depth for coinshooting? And overall hunting?

Default dfx depth

hi, i have used the dfx for the last twelve months , i dont think it is any, deeper than your machine, but the feedback from the signals recieved is excellent, and once you come to terms with the dfx , it will find the tiny elements that many other machines will miss. but saying that,-- it all depends on your soil conditions.
i have also found coins with the laser rapier and the compass coinscanner pro, that the dfx has passed over. so at the end of the day , if you are satisfied with your machine, best stick with it. after all it is a very good machine you have, and you have the advantage of knowing it inside out.

i agree withn dirtydfx,
If you like your machine I would stick with it. I have a DFX it is an awesome machine, but I pass over stuff that my uncle finds with his minelab. I can get readings at like 8-9 inches easily with it. Great machine, still fine tuning it.

Glad to know that my Whites Spectrum hasn't been totally eclipsed by these newer models. As time goes by, I'm increasingly convinced that the larger part of detecting success lies with the operator, not so much the machine. As long as you are operating a reasonably capable machine, whether it be a top-of-the-line or not, the key to many good and overlooked finds is operator experience and disciplines in the field. If you take the time to learn and know your machine (or machines) and take the time to get to know the ground conditions you are searching in...then those finds will surface that will cheer you and amaze others. I've got a friend who putts around with an older White's Eagle 2 SL. Now things are that he consistently (or more often than not, at least) shows up with the better relics; the better civil war items; the better older coins. But this guy knows his machine like the back of his hand and is very conscious of the conditions in the ground he is about to search. He knows when he should search in All-metal only...or when he can crank up the discrimination a bit. I know the newest machines with the newest technology and features can help us get to that point of operator proficiency faster...but the free ride is only good for so far. After that, you have to apply yourself to the machine and the hunt conditions.

...how well a person knows their machine. i bought a DFX in Sept 04 but have not used it alot. only sound i really have memorized so far is a shotgun shell. had a qxt for 6 years and knew it very well. i am like a newbie now except for the research and sites.

Unless you just really want a new machine, I would stick with what works best for me. My old one was so outdated that I just had to move up a little.

Default All opions I would

Not tring to take anything from any post here simply what I think. The dfx is a geat detector with a better processor. To me this means when locking in on a taget you will get a more reliable signal. The dual freq works like this. the dfx takes the 2 freqs and applys the best data from each signal to give your a more stable signal. depth is all up to you and how hot you want to run the machine or any machine for that matter. In my experiance all metal mode is the best at depth for any machine to get down there deep, but with any pro comes a con in this mode you will dig a lot more trash. I honestly belive that if you know your machine and feel like you still have faith in what it will find I say let the dog hunt then. Now on the other hand if you have a local detector shope see if he will let you have one for a demo and check it out . Also you can find detectors on ebay for a really good price with out having to spen the money of a new if you liek the machine sale what you bought and get a new. Just do what makes you happy. Most people that owna a certain machin will tell you much they found and how great there machine is . I feel like a true treasure hunter will own several detectors for the differnt type of conditons he or she runs in to.I hope I have not confused anyone ,and I hope this helps some what.

Thanks Will Lane
