Default Find a Cache

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has ever found a bonafide "Cache" in the ground? Now what I'm calling a Cache is that Mason Jar or Coffee Can or some other container in the ground outside of a house or old foundation full of coins or paper money. I have read that they could be under a tree in the backyard, I have also heard that it could be next to a fence post and also that the owner of the Cache probably placed it in a place that they probably could keep an eye on it out one of their house windows.

I'm curious to hear from you about your adventure in finding the Cache. Where did you hunt? Why did you hunt there? How much $ was in the Cache? This has to be one of the pinnacles in Metal Detecting.

I'm extremely new to this Metal Dectecting but the "Hunt" is was excites me. I'm right now trying to think of all the old foundations that I have found while Hunting.

I look forward to hearing your stories, Thanking you in advance.

Take Care

Not found with a detector, but this was a pretty good one... When I bought this house, we did a few renovations. In with the tub plumbing behind the bathroom wall, my little brother found an old "8 o'clock" coffee can full of some great coins... mostly Standing Liberty quarters, also some Walking Lib halfies, even a couple Peace dollars as well as some other stuff.
My Grandpa lived through post WWI Germany, and moved to the US just in time for our depression... So it must have been a little "just in case" stash he hid in the 40's.
We gave the can to my father; he's the coin guy in the family, not to mention it was his dad's money. But I'll try to get over to his place this weekend and get some pics to post.

I am still waiting to find my first one.
From the little reading I've done here, it sounds like Mr. Silver has truly earned that name!

Back in the late sixties a friend of my found 4 $20 gold pieces inside a PA can that was hidden in a rock wall of a cellar hole.
Hey - this might be a good trivia question; How many of you younger folks know what a PA can is?

i don't know if this is considered a cache or not, i found a quart glass jar with a red rubber gasketed glass top with a wire spring type hold down, the wire was all rusted into nothing, but the detector found it. inside the jar were 32 $2.00 bills all in great shape. it was about 9" down along side a oak tree about 40" in diameter.
respectfully , george

The best I've found has been a roll of quarters hidden under a rock sometime after 1992. Not great but paid for lunch lol.
