I use an White's M6 and a 5900 Di PRO SL. I just purchased 4X6 coils for both to search some pretty trashy areas and expect to get better seperation of targets compared to the standard coils. Would it be benefitial to pick up the 5.3 coil also or is it close to the 4X6 in performance? Does the 5.3 offer any benefits over the 4X6?

I think its nice to have both. (i do). There is a place for both, I think you goet more depth and more coverage with the 5.3 where the trash is not so bad but to bad for the 9.50. Where its really trashy the 4x6 excells as you can jack the sensitivity up quite a bit more,( I guess because or the double D design). Just my thoughts, I've used both since May. Good Luck, Ken

I agree with krs about the 5.3 coil on both detectors, and probably one of Whites most useful coils . I was disappointed with the 4x6" shooter coil on all the 6.59 khz detectors as far as depth but target separation is very good. The 350 snooper (5" concentric) has better depth and excellent target separation. Can't go wrong with the 5.3 Bullseye on the 5900 and is the favorite of many who use it. Very little DD coil developement on the 6.59khz Whites for some reason.
Am using the 5.3 Eclipse for general hunting at parks and schools but at the real trashy spots am using the EXcelerator 4.5"x7" and the 5" DD coils on an M6 and very happy with the results. Some folks are having excellent results on depth and separation using the 4"x6" Eclipse on their DFX MXT and M6's . Perhaps it's the electronics on the newer detectors that allows better performance of DD coils. Just my opinion based on precise miscalculations |

i have both and have found the limited depth difference you get from the 5.3 is over shadowed by the seperation, minerazation advantage, and EMI advantage you get from the 4X6. remember the M6 is a 14 kHz machine and has lots of sensitivity. You do cover the same amount of real estate with both.
