Default Which One

Ok I need some help. I have been away from detecting for a few years but before that I started digging in the 60s. I had a tectonics, I think that's what it was and used an early Nautilus .I even used a detector that had a battery almost as big as a car battery that you carried in a bag on a strap on your shoulder, it only found stuff as big as the battery. Enough of that my question is what to buy now, I have looked at the Minelab Sovereign GT, the Tesoro Tejon and the Nautilus DMCIIBA. Which one do I buy, is there a comparison between them, are they even in the same class? I'm gonna buy one just looking for some advice.

THANKS

PS:Will be used for relics and coins.

I'm in Va. south of Richmond the soil runs from sandy to clay and in between, could be in fields or woods. Does that help?

Default Hunted there often timbuckII......

....and I have to tell you that either the Nautilus DMC-IIBa or the Tesoro Tejon would have to be your choices!

Attended the past GNRS hunt in the Fredricksburg area, and the most successful of us were using the Nautilus. While the Tejon goes deep (and it does), the Nautilus goes DEEPER!

In your soil, especially the Virginia clay.....it is next to impossible to beat the Nautilus. Guess that's why most all CW hunters back there use it! I have a good friend there in Appomatix who swears by his DMC-IIBa.

The Nautilus Team has won the past 5 GNRS hunts....that should also tell you something!

I stock the DMC-IIB and the DMC-IIBa, ans well as all of the coils, the Nautilus rechargeable batteries and charger, the longer Nautilus lower rods if needed, and the specially wired KillerB headphones for the Nautilus.

I also stock the custom made brackets, to convert the Nautilus to either a Tesoro Vaquero Rod, or a Whites Rod, for better balance.

Check out the "Tips For Nautilus Users" post on my Nautilus Forum here on TQ! There are lots of great tips there for you once you get your machine.

Attachment 9052 Nautilus DMC-IIBa

Attachment 9053 Nautilus DMC-IIB

Attachment 9054 Tesoro Tejon

I would be honored to be chosen as the Nautilus Dealer for your purchase, or the Tesoro Dealer if you decide to go with the Tejon!

Best Regards........Chuck@TreasureHut

Hi Tim, Yes the Tesoro Tejon is a great choice Tim. But since I have never been in your area using metal detectors I really don't know how bad the soil can be there. I do know the Tejon and GT are excellent choices. Since I have not used the Nautilus brand I can't honestly comment on them. But I know Chuck is a straight shooter and I would not doubt his report on the Nautilus. I think they were made for getting down through the mineralization of your area. Ok best to you Tim in your choice of detectors. Happy hunting and God Bless ya!

My vote would go to the Tejon. A great relic hunter as well as coinhunter. Very lightweight and easy to use. If you need more help in your decision please let me know.

Gee Whiz, TimbuckII. You picked the three best choices for our soil (I have the clay here in SW Virginia, NE Tennessee also). The GT and Tejon would be my first two choices (I don't know much about Nautilus, only that they are probably the deepest of all three), but whatever of the three, you are going to be happy.

(crap, this post didn't help at all)

By the way Tim I hope I can help you with the purchase of a new Sovereign GT. I think it will make a great relic hunter for you. I hope to be your Minelab dealer and provide a good service to you and your new GT! God Bless and happy hunting Tim.
