Default Hello Ranger....

......the White's Spectrum XLT is a VERY GOOD machine, both for coins/jewelry, and relic hunting!

I can't tell you much about the Garrett Ultra 1000, so I'll leave that for someone else.

The Spectrum was one of my favorite machines for years.

The XLT is by far the better of the two. You should be able to get one as low as 300 up to around 400 but I wouldn;t pay more for one.

With Chuck and Tony providing their Expert opinions i'm glad to see you went with an XLT. There may be some better on depth and some better at target separation but the XLT is still one of the overall best and way ahead of it's time when conceived. Good Luck with your XLT. HH Bill

Hello ranger I use whites XLT E series and the classic 3 I just like whites handling and operation. I have had a garrett GTA 350 and it was a good machine. But I prefer whites. Hope this helps.
