Here’s a tip, it may be obvious or may be neurotic, but….
Now that yard work season is upon us, I have started keeping my detector nearby. Every time I break ground for landscaping or cut back a bush I give the area a quick sweep. It keeps the drudgery of the yard work down and does not deter too much from the task at hand.

Found a war nickel yesterday, part silver anyway.

If you enjoy yard work, toss the ol mower in the back of the hickup truck and go cruising the old neighborhoods. When you find a likely lookin yard that needs mowing, offer to mow it in return for permission to detect it. You can both win!
