Default coil cover

I remeber a while back somebody wrote about using a truck bed liner spray to cover their coil , well the other day i was taking my coil cover off and broke it in half and its about 40 miles to the nearest md dealer and would be lucky if he had one in stock, then i remembered the article, so i went to walmart to look around and found this product called plasti-kote spray in bed liner for about 7-8 dollars a can. i could't be happier, put about 8-10 coats on it and now all i have to do is rinse it off and done with no problems so far.

You have an Ace 250, correct? I used epoxy on my sniper coil and it works like a charm, and doesn't interfere with the detector. I'm not sure how it would work on Whites, etc.

Just curious, I also have the Ace250, do you really need the coil cover? I don't have one and haven't had any problems...

I already wore off the poxy on the sniper coil once and had to reapply. You do sweep at ground level, correct? Sand is the worse as it scratches the coil - think of it as cheap protection.

You've convinced me. I'm gonna pick one up this week.

Thanks!

Coil covers are priced too cheap not to use one. It depends on the growth on the ground as to how high I swing. But if it is very little I will just kinda scrub the ground. There is a chance that if your scrubbing sandy type ground that a static condition could appear and cause some noise, probably unlikely but you never know. I don't mind removing my coil cover to clean it periodically. Happy hunting to you all and God's Blessing's too!

I had tried an experiment and removed my coil cover to see if I could tell the difference. The answer turned out to be no. The cover didn’t change the depth or sense settings at all. What I did end up with was a good size chip in the side of my coil, most likely hit a shell on the beach. As you can imagine the cover is back on.
Besides the spray on bead liner that two part boat epoxy works as good as a coil cover and detector or coil brand doesn’t make any difference...yea epoxied the cover on. Next time though it’ll just be the epoxy, just as tough as the cover maybe even more so.

Default coil covers

I'm with John, coil covers are inexpensive, coils are not. It is definately worth putting one on.

A Must for me.It's silly to take the chance of damaging your Coil When a scuff cover is so cheap. If ya don't want to have to take them off to clean then just put a nice little Bead of caulk around the seam.

Good Luck & HH.
