Hi there everybody don't know if this will help anyone or not but I found a tool box at the home depot store it's a fat max 28" made by stanley and for me it works great to transport my detector on those long trips or the off road trips on an atv it's also water resistant in case you get cought in the rain or mud holes while on the atv trips I have an ace 250 with all three coils a vibraprobe two diffrent digging tools a trash pouch a hand towel extra battries a a pair of knee pads and headphones and they all fit without removing the lower shafts on the coils makes tranporting easy just one easy to cary box don't know about any other detectors but the ace sure brakes down very small with little work and juse a few minutes Thanks for listening Happy Hunting

Maybe not. Be careful, the current limitations on carry on baggages is 45 total inches with the largest dimension between 21 and 24 inches depending on the airline. Even those vary depending on the airplane in use at the time. The size limits change sometimes weekly depending on the political climate and the whims of TSA at the moment.

If an agent has a question of size, (at their discretion), then you will be forced to check it at the gate. Not a very desirable situation.
