Default field report

I took the knife out today used it for digging out coins found with my detector found 10 pennies and two nickels- the knife did really well although the plastic handle did break- of course I was hammering on it with a 20 oz framing hammer at the time,as I was trying to dig into frozen dirt/gravel driveway. The blade is very impressive and it digs very well with the concave bend to it itis very strong I was prying apart frozen dirt clods applying lots of force.
The handle is broken but it is in such a way that it is still usable.
I feel that this knife would have held up fine for years if I hadn't abused it. the dirt I was digging in was frozen solid and I was literally pounding the knife in like a tent stake to loosen it up.I will be buying the other for my own use.

I'm still using the little yellow handled digger that came with the Ace 250. The rubber handle wore a hole through and the metal coming through the back was not to comfortable. I cut a piece of maple and hewed it down to where one end would go down into the metal handle, the other end I made round (Kinda like the old shifter knobs) I ended up with a comfortable handle that extended the tool about 5 inches. I have to sharpen it once in a while, but I like it better than anything else I have tried. The extra length comes in handy with a deep target, and I can also push a little harder.

The digger you are showing looks like a very good tool. I might check into it if I ever wear mine out.

Default Happy with my LESCHE

I use a LESCHE tool (yeah...I paid too much), but I love my LESCHE...if you can break a LESCHE under normal use, I would buy it from ya I think...I have pried 4 inch rocks from the ground with it and not even nicked the finish...very tough tool...I am debating if I should sharpen the edge on a grind stone, but I figure this will ruin the temper of the blade...I also use a smaller more narrow trowel that came with my Land Star...does not have a name on it...green handled and diamond pointed, marked off in inches on the blade...prolly some version of a common garden trowel.

HH,

I just picked up a digger at Lowes. Was $10 , forgot the brand ,it has a blue handle and so far it is great. Lifetime replacement too.

What do you guys think about this unit right here??? Do you guys think it will do well. I don't have any places where I live here that sell them so I will have to order online. It is this one or the one at garden store.

Looks good...You will like the wide end on the handle...easy on the palm of your hand...I been wearing weight lifting gloves for the last few years that I bought at Dicks Sporting Goods ...padded palm with the fingers cut out...really easy on the hands when diggin in hard ground

Good huntin

This is the digger I started with. It does ok unless you need to cut through tough grass. I do know it is well made. If you buy one they do come with a limited lifetime warranty, Beale.
