I coated my screwdrivers with color guard and bed liner paint.
Try some color guard or even bed liner paint. I have both but the color guard wears off after a while in hard soil. The bed liner paint has lasted pretty good. I did round off the edges of the tips of the screwdrivers before coating them though...

Probe?
My probe is made of Sears® craftmans screwdriver
(Straight or regular) its 12 inches long, I filed down the sharp points(the ground helps also) from using so much! Never had it bend on me, its sturdy( 1/4 inch thick) If I ever busted it I take it back to Sears and they replaced for FREE!!! I found MDing anyways!  Mr.Silver
