Default Another container for keeper finds

Here’s something in addition to those pill bottles, 35mm film containers, and the rest of the items we use to protect those “special” finds that are usually placed in a pocket rather than your apron.

It’s the container that dental floss comes in. Once empty, just pull the “guts” out & you have a nice slim/flat container that’ll feel a little better in your pocket that a larger round one since more valuable finds go there as opposed to the apron.

I happen to use the last of the floss this morning, was playing with the container & popped the insides-out......and thought it'd make a good one

I've seen them in different sizes, some about the size of a book of matches, some about twice as big. These are the ones you pull-out a length of floss & hook it on the cutter that's inside.

Being a newbie, I haven't found more than a couple silver coins. I don't rub the dirt off my finds when I pull them out of the ground, I clean them once I get home (lol.....don't want to scratch my clad ). I've actually found several times what I thought was a quarter was actually a token once I cleaned them.

I read where some put their finds in their pockets, but I'd have to think this would cause the same rubbing action as it would if you rubbed the dirt off with a thumb, so a small container would protect the find(s) & keep the dirt from being rubbed into them in a pocket.

Also, I wear a leather carpenters bag on a 2" webbed belt(I wore 2, one on each hip when I worked, but just wear 1 for MDing). It has 5-6 pockets, 1 being large enough for a fair amount of trash, and plenty of room for tools & misc. It has a smaller pocket good for finds, but I'm always afraid in the process of digging another find, I'll drop something out of the pouch, and I'd never hear a coin or ring hitting the grass. So, I slipped a small plastic antacid bottle into the pocket. When I make a find, it takes a second to unscrew the lid & drop the find in it & replace the lid. Now if I drop my finds, I hear the bottle drop, and don't have to worry about losing an individual piece.
