Talking Write Off

It is NOT only a hobby, but a real technology.
Depending on your profession, your detector can be a write off for your business.
In my profession… home inspection, if I were to miss on a home an abandoned buried fuel tank that was contaminating the ground it would cost me … oh my… plenty. From correction to insurance increases.

So for the record my BH Land Star comes with me on any home 20 years or older. It was the best-featured and cost effective unit for me to protect my company from this issue.

What I do on Saturday with my tools is my own business…. Right!

Thank You Uncle Sam!

I guess I could say I use mine to check for swallowed coins when kids come in the ER.

Haven’t yet, but I will document it when it comes out. U bet

Be a good excuse to take a little “extra” time on an inspection and see what I find… /shrug

Not "knocking" your profession at all, I think for some, it stands to serve a good purpose. Problem with the ones around here is their inspection report begind with "Inspector isn't liable for any mistakes or omissions".

One passd a furnace with a busted heat exchanger which I found, homeowner said they just had an inspection done (they just bought the house), I asked to see it & showed them the disclaimer.....lol, needless to say they weren't happy having to spend a couple grand on something that had been given the "OK". This happened more than once.

Yeah some guys do things differently. New furnaces I explain there is no way to inspect the heat exchanger, closed system. On older one I sure do look at what I can see, and I test the regesters with a CO detector. IMHO it's about life safety not a good disclaimer.

HI is slow now but I'm branching off into Home energy audits and Infrared inspections.

Sorry to hear your freinds got a cheap inspection.
