After digging with my Vibraprobe 570, I can't hunt without it. It makes recovery so much faster. If you have the extra cash. Go ahead and get a pinpointer. Ace 250 and Vibraprobe 570 match made in heaven! Coin Magnet.

I was AMAZED at the time saved after I bought a pinpointer (I have a Vibraprobe and a Bullseye II) - wouldn't leave home without them!

I feel the pin pointer makes the difference for sure. I have the Whites BullseyeII and love it.

I bought a $15 Handheld Metal Detector "Pinpointer" from Harbor Freight. It's designed for locating nails in wood and behind drywall. It has a probe just like a real pinpointer, it senses metal about an inch away for most pulltabs and coins and stuff, it will hit a coke can at 4 inches. It wasn't sealed really well "the seam" on the probe, it wasn't made for rubbing around in the dirt/sand, but a little electrical tape fixed that up. The button is a bit iffy at times. I hold it down and start scanning the hole, hear no beep and realize that I wasn't holding the button down right, so have to repress and hold down the button again. Other than that i'm happy with it, and for $15, i'm sold.

I'm sure it's not as good as a real pinpointer, but it gets the job done, wouldn't want to detect without it.
