I started using this new digger today, the Ames 7-in-1 Plant Buddy. Yeah it sounds lame, but this thing is killer. It was $13 at Home Depot!

I use one just like this...along with my new C&S tool! The Ames tool is under $15 in most places and will take a beating for sure - I think this is one the best tools you can buy - at least until you decide if MD'ing is going to be more than just a casual thing!

Default Would a bulb planter be an OK tool ?

For those who cut plugs instead of doing the folding method .... I see these nice-looking adjustable bulb planters at garden stores ; do you think they would do the job ? (I currently use one of those 7-in-1 garden buddies, but am always on the lookout for extra tools !

Wow, lots of replies... I just bought me a neat ol' trench/drain shovel for the nasty stuff when off the 'manicured' reservations; at biGlots for $9. BUT, I found this neat Lesche wannabe shovel, and for a Jackson less (on fleaBay)...Good luck and happy huntin'...
