P.S. INDY...It has to be the "SPOTTED" Touch-me-not.
I have PLENTY of them. When they start coming out I will be more than glad to send you some to plant if you wish.

Hi Indy,
I catch Poison Ivy easy too. I've contracted poison ivy every month of the year. If you touch the roots you'll get it. Unfortunately the touch me nots will not help you as their not up yet. If you have a sulfur creek near by grab a rock covered with the red sulfur and rub it on your poison, in two days it will be dried up. I had it real bad in November while doing a dig with Wyatt. I still carry the red scares from it on my right hand. Greg |

in my many experiences with poison ivy i have found a cup of bleach to bath water works to dry up the poison ( do not dunk head in water ) but i have also found out that poison has to breathe so if u have it on ur arms or ur legs ...u can suffocate it with a ace bandage have to wear the bandage all day but it will stop it

I am one of those who is highly allergic. I had it back in January and it always seems to get between the fingers and aggravates the devil out of you. I usually end up taking a few days of prednisone and that clears it up. Indy, if you are digging and get a hold of those roots that you don't know are some type of poison, you still get it even in the dead of winter. Pappy, How about send me some of those Touch-me-not seeds when you get some. I need to plant those. There is another remedy I used to use. Daddy used it a lot. It is called spider weed. You get you a batch of it and boil it in water to make a tea. You can then wipe it on with a cotton ball or you can drink it as well to get the poison fighting stuff in your system. That stuff seemed to dry it up better than anything I have seen. Out digging the best idea is to wear gloves. Happy Hunting all.

I buy the 100 pack of Nitril gloves from HarborFreight when they are on sale. These have proven durable and touch sensative (can pick up a dime with no trouble). They also give you improved griping (stick) in a number of conditions. Your hands will often sweat while using them, but they don't tear or puncture easily like latex golves do and have stood up to several wearings while detecting and digging in rough dirt and gravel. Also good for working on the car or changing the printer ink/ribbon.
Here is the link for them, you may have to copy and paste it due to text wrap. I went to the sight and did a search for gloves.. Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices SWC Joe |
