Default Coin Cleaning

Last night Zack and I was cleaning my 30-30 and getting ready to put it up for the season and Zack accidently got some of the cleaner on the brass butt plate. It was tanished and when we started wiping the cleaner off we noticed it looked new.

Zack decided to try it out on some pennies that we were going to tumble and after soaking, the pennies looked new.

What we were using was GUNSLICK FOAMING BORE CLEANER. After 15 minutes the pennies looked completely different. I am unaware if this stuff will eat the coins or not but I do know it is noncorrosive and nonacidic to the skin. It contains no ammonia and doen't smell like regular cleaners. The foam is bright blue and you can actually watch it clean away dirt and grime.

I have not tested it on anything other than some copper and clad pennies so if anyone tests it out on silver or nickle, let me know the results please. We used all we had cleaning pennies!!

Default cleaning coins

generally coin people (collectors) do not want cleaned coins. they prefer to have them uncleaned and tarnished. I have a coin collection and had it appraised and they told me that some of the coins had been cleaned at some time and hurt the value of them. so keep that in mind when cleaning up the coins. you might also talk with a local coin dealer and see what he thinks too
