Markings inside your jewelry?

I am having trouble locating the post that tells about the markings inside jewelry.

I need information on the markings inside a ring...Is there a site you can go to that tells the companies initials that are marked inside...I have found a ring that has 4 initials and the letter s circled...Can anyone give me any information on these markings and there meaning???

The ring I have found is not very old pretty mangled and having to straighten it out!!! A class ring...I have the persons first name and trying to make out the rest...the initials inside of what I can make out are...accr I believe and has a letter s circled... I was thinking this is the jeweler's or makers (co.) initials???

This ring read out on my dfx as a 10....foil and after I dug it...then past it over my coil it nulled out... no gold markings but read in the foil area...I am concluding this is another type metal other than gold....What do you all think???? Oh and let me add I was using the coin jewelry program...
