Minelab Explorer SE The Minelab Explorer SE is considered by many around the world to be the most technologically advanced metal detector ever manufactured. Incorporating FBS, Full Bandwidth Spectrum, means that the SE transmits not one or two, but 28 different frequencies, from 1.5kHz to 100kHz, into the ground at the same time, making sure not to miss conductive targets regardless of their size. An extremely fast microprocessor combined with 3rd generation software providing excellent discrimination, and a feature ensemble too long to list here, are all packed into this fabulous metal detector.

The most important thing I can tell you for starters is, move that coil verrry slowww and start off in the coin factory preset. It may be over whelming at first with all the tones but practice on some coins to see what they sound like and where the x is on the screen. Good digs to you!

Hello Wier, The Explorer SE is one fine machine. Don't get in too much hurry and read, read, read the manual. Use the preset discrimination patterns first to get used to the machine. As time goes by begin to experiment with various settings. Once you get some time under your belt I would give serious consideration to purchasing a small 5.5" coil for your SE. I have an SE that I use the SunRay X5 5.5" coil on it. Smaller coils are great for trashy areas. The factory 10.5" coil is good for getting extra depth and covering more ground. Be sure to do a noise cancel when moving to a different area or as often as you feel it needs to be done.
I hope you are getting a weather cover with it too. I also use the SunRay Pro Gold headphones on all my detectors. Once you get in the groove you will love the finds you will be making with your SE. Ok God Bless and enjoy your toy!

Just start in the preset programs and swing slow. I would start in digital and dig the good numbers and tones. Practice swinging over a few coins and note the numbers. Takes some time to get use to but its the greatest machine out there!
