Default Where are the Minelab owners?

Well I have an EXII now and I'm trying to learn the thing.

It does have a pretty good learning curve but between the rain and heat I've got some practice in...

XS here and love it....have had it a few yrs now. but it is heavy for me .so i made it so i can use a hip mount for the unit which really makes a huge differance in swinging for a longer time...

real easy to make ones own hip mount and the only cost was a longer cable that can be purchased from a store that sells ham radios as they have cables that will match the xs without modifying them.

Default Explorer II is a great machine

You're right, it does take some time to learn it, but to start with use the factory settings and you can't go wrong, but don't forget the "Noise Cancel" feature, you really need to do that.

Angry My Fisher is waiting for a transplant...

so I had to take the XS out of the mothballs. Broke my coil in the woods last week-dropped the darn thing one too many times. Now I have to learn how to operate the XS. Anyone have any suggestions concerning target identification? Even in quickstart mode, the machine makes so much noise that I end up digging a lot more garbage than I did with the Fisher CZ5.
I hear so many praises for the Explorer. But I've always thought that it was possibly over-rated. (or my CZ5 is under-rated) Maybe I should just be patient, huh? Thanks.

Well it was so hot at home I took a little trip to northern FLA. I can almost see GA from here...

Had to try the EX2 on sand. My old bounty hunter 505 falsed like crazy but this EX2 is great! Quiet until is sees something. I'm learning quite a bit from this trip but really haven't found any good stuff.

Quarters and bottle caps are so much alike...but caps seem to be not quite as pure of a tone. Pennies are all over the place in tone.

Aluminum is my enemy! At home it seems there are small bits of it everywhere. Along with bottle caps it's hard to do much.

I've turned the sens down to maybe 18 since this thing goes so deep. A lot of stuff is 6-8 inches in the sand here on the island but it will find an old pull tab or nail at a foot or so!

OK, enough rambling...gonna go back out around 7 tonight and hunt till dark. Gotta go back home tommorow. Could always drive up the coast and stop in NC friday night but if the heat stays like it is I may as well get back to KY.

Ben

Cool Explorer 2

Settings for relic hunting: -8 Iron Mask audio threshold 7- 10 w/ headphones
Sensitivity 25-30 I have done pretty good in this range. It does take time to get the hang of this machine, but it is great.

I have the EXPLORER 2 for about 2 weeks now.

My main Problem has been Pinpointing.

I'm used to the Symplicity of the SOVEREIGN.

(Switch to All Metal & Back off the Object While Swinging side to side, till the Signal Disappears)

Dosn't work as good in DISC or the Explorers Pinpoint.

I Added My Sovereign Control Box with The S-1 Probe. Directly to the Explorer.
This Helps, But I'm still Finding Myself off on the Deep ones.
