Question Sovereign Elite digital meter calibration

Hello minelab users,
I have a problem calibrating the digital meter on the Sovereign Elite. I don't get a lock on to target numbers, seems to wander. Any suggestions?
I follwed the owners manual and it calibrated at home, out in the field it is not locking on like I think it should. Otherwise I have very good results with the detector, probably need a book or some sage advice from the Forum Masters.

Good luck detecting

Hi Timberline,

I don't have the Elite but have the GT with a 180 Digi Search meter and found if your sensitivity is set too high the meter will jump all over the place and out in the field you may encounter many variables that affect the meter readings such as numerous targets, electrical interference, and bad ground, etc.etc. etc. I found the 8" coil works best for me at my sites and the famous Sov. wiggle helps greatly to lock on targets that seem jittery.Since you mentioned the meter calibrated at home i'm assuming it's your real world sites causing the scattered readings and not the detector or meter. Default Sovereign meter

Hi Gregory & bill(de),
Thanks for the replies, I have the factory manual and will review it again. I also will try the sensitivity reduction, plus the "wiggle". The soil conditions vary greatly where I detect, may need to fine tune for each different site. I will let you know how I do.
Thanks,

Thumbs up Sovereign Elite meter calibration

Hi bill(de),

I detected at several different sites today and your advice was right on. Meter was stable and locked on to target with accurate reading. Sure made for a nice day, when you have confidence in your detector and it located a few coins.
TQ and the forum members are GREAT.

Thanks,

- timberline -

I'm glad you had a good day timberline and i'm still trying to uncover the quirks on the Sovereign and i really like it but it is a different beast than what i'm used to so i've been hitting all the tip sites and various Minelab forums and they help greatly also. I'll be happy to discuss Sovereign issues with you anytiime and when the leaves drop and the woods clear i'll be using my GT for many hrs and just can't wait . I agree that the TQ forum and members are a great bunch with a very cordial atmosphere and very informative. Good Luck and HH Bill.

hmmm, you would make an excellent detector field tester. Are you interested if we supply the detectors?
