Hello & welcome to the TQ forum.

There are many light weight detectors. Do some shopping and check the weight of the ones your interested in then compare the weight to your Minelab.

You could keep your Minelab as a backup or if you want to sell it then try our Classifieds. http://www.treasurequestxlt.com/classads/index.php?Main

Good luck,

Greg

Hi Abbenormal and Welcome,

Lots of detector choices out there and perhaps we could make better recommendations if we knew what type hunting you do and if looking for a metered or nonmetered. And as Greg mentioned there is a classified page on this site or perhaps could make a dealer trade as the Elite should have good base value.

Good luck with your choice and feel free to ask away.

Thanks for the replies. I search exclusively on sandy beaches with my minelab and have had wonderful success. I like its constant hum that changes to different pitches. Mine has a meter, but i don't necessarily use it. My main concern is the weight. Should i look at a different brand?

Probably one of the best for the beaches what about taking some of the swing weight off your arm with a swingy thingy but thats what they are called. Just scroll down the page at this site.
