Was wondering if anyone here has either the X-30 or X-50 detectors?
If so, how do they preform for you? Have been reading the other forums on these machines and they seem to think they are very good. My main question is: Do you believe the "extras" on the X-50 are worth the extra $$$. I really am not interested in the higher freq. for gold hunting, i mainly coin shoot and relic hunt. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks.....Leon |

Hi Leon,
I have the X Terra 50 and it is excellent except for the lack of accessory coils at this time for both the X 30 and x 50. If all you want is a grab and go detector then perhaps the X Terra 30 is the one for you and i'm sure it will perform very well under many conditions. I have a few sites where the Ground Balance differed from the others and could be exacerbated even more with different sized coils and would prefer the X Terra 50 . According to Minelab the X Terra 50 has higher Gain setting which should increase depth capabilities.I'm assuming thats pre /amp gain and should help the deep coin and relic hunters. I do agree with John that depth is relative as many good finds can be hidden due to target masking but i sure do like my detectors to have as many functional options as possible I would also say that it is important to understand your detector but the utmost importance is to have good sites. The best bait and tackle won't catch a fish in the desert I think the X Terra 50 is a potential bigtime winner but we need the other coils and i do think the options are worth the money and yes the other forums are accurate, they are very good detectors. The Xterra50 has an adjustable ground balance whereas the 30 is fixed. Also , the fact that the 50 can take accessory coils to enhance performance is a big big plus in my book. Not just for gold hunting , but remember the higher the frequency the better the detector will find smaller targets. There are plans to make other coils in the near future.
