Default First Day With My New SE!

The SE arrived just before I got home last evening. It was already dark so after supper I unpacked it and put it together. I watch the video that came with it and really soaked in the LEARN mode part. I went straight to some silver coins I had, laid the detector on a wooden table with the coil hanging way out and put it in learn mode. I ran a Merc, Walking Lib, Frankin half and Peace dollar under it 3 times each plus on end for each of them. I then saved the pattern under S1.
I hunted for about 2 hours this afternoon and found nothing but rusted metal and shotgun shells.

BUMMED OUT.

I'll have to spend some time with it and try some other things. I set my sensitivity up a little above factory and even put the iron mask on to about 5/6 of a full screen. I also tried the coin mode. Nuttin Honey!

its kinda like swimming in muddy water then you hit clear water. it'll take time. i use the quattro and usally use all metal and fine tune it a little then save it in relics. that way ive got the original relic program and mine. plus still have the all metal. it will all make sence soon. i think the ex,is the same. also when you get a iffy signal and slow down. slow down evan more. ya might want to try a test garden. like a old rusty nail next to a dime. learn what it reads like in differant directions. it just takes time. hh

Default Blanking

I'm assuming that I experienced what you all are calling blanking today. I get a tone and then when I pass back over the spot the detector goes quiet.

if you have trash or something that was disc. out next to a coin it can mask it. meaning it will go silent then by the time the threshold comes back your past the coin. its called masking. you can try to hit all metal and go over it. all metal wont go silent. just go slow.and see if it reads a good signal more than one way. hh
