Rough crowd!
Well I did not mean to offend just stating an opinion, whether you think its right or wrong its just an opinion. If I could I would love to get the top of line MD from the start, but like most people I cant. Some of us try it out and not stick with the hobby others love it and get better units later on. Since you sell many brands besides the Xterra-30 I would love to hear what's your opinion on the best brand/model under $500 for relic & coin. Im shopping for my next unit but I cant wait any longer for a DFX or SE I need something better to tie me over until then. This BH SS II is not doing it for me.

I would suggest the Fisher ID Excel. Under 500 and a great little detector. If you want to stay Whites then try out a Prizm V. It's got what you're looking for in a lower price bracket.

Hi Osros, Tony also has some good suggestions there too. By the way the Minelab Xterrra 50 has a new price of 499.97 which was 598.95. The Xterra 50 is a very light and well balanced machine and works quite well and the digital readout is awsome. The pinpointing is the easiest I have seen. I don't carry White's Osros so Tony might have something there that would meet your requirements too. Ok Osros let me know if I can get you setup
? You take care my friend and chat to you soon. God Bless ya Tony |

When I read about the Xterra line, it seems that the VDI is nothing more than the segments being displayed as a number. The Xterra 50 says that it displays it's numbers in steps of 3, which is what the segments do anyways. The Ace 250 displays the segments only, so in this respect the Xterra 50 does give you 18 segments (finer detail) over the Ace 250. But is it worth twice the price?
The Xterra VFlex idea is good though, using a separate microprocessor chip in the coil to communicate with the box. This would seem to let the coil have more definition to transmit information to the box. This is also why you can use different frequency coils, as the coil transmits it's set frequency and tells the box what to expect. With this in mind, I wouldn't even consider the Xterra 30, since it is limited to the one frequency. With the 50 (2 frequency options, 18 segments), or better yet the 70 (3 frequency options, 28 segments), it would be a long time before you would outgrow it's abilities. Just my thoughts. Hello Hightone, well everyone has to offer a very basic beginner machine. But the Xterra 70 is a really great machine. It is one of my favorites and I have put in a lot of time behind it. Unlike most people I like the 3Khz coil and it definitely goes deeper. When I found the ladies antique wrist watch with 41 diamonds on it, I was using the X70 with the 7.5Khz coil. It is so nice to be able to just glance over at the display and see it no problem! It seems to have the depth too. I dug a 1917 wheatie which was in pretty nice shape at 8" using the 7.5Khz coil. Ok Hightone thanks for your report on the Xterra series and hope to hear from you again. God Bless.
