Minelab Quattro MP The Minelab Quattro MP is also an FBS detector transmitting all 28 frequencies like it's big brother SE. This microprocessor controlled metal detector features the easiest, most intuitive digital user interface available on the market today. Quattro has set a new performance standard for "turn on and go" detectors. This machine is chock full of features in a relatively small control box, thanks to the latest in PC board surface mount technology.

Default signals with nothing there

I have a Quattro with a 101/2 in coil, a Platypus coil, and a Stealth X5 coil. I get a signal, most times it won't repeat, often it does. But I never find anything. I've tried all modes, low and high trash, cross saving, and the only thing I've found in over a year is a penny, and a little junk.I have Andy Sabisch's book, read it at least 100 times. A coin laid on the ground won't be picked up at over 3 inches above it. Used to have a Soveriegn, was much better. I'm not new at this, been at it off and on for over 20 years. I need help before I trash this thing!!!

I would think that it should pick up a coin more than 3"

I don't know your machine, but I would take it to a dealer to look at, has to be something wrong. Maybe it would be easy for them to fix. Good Luck.

i agree mine was nothig but deep. remember a DD coil pinpoint at the front tip. i get mixed up sometimes on pin pointing. my whites pinpoints in the center right on. the mine lab w/10.5 coil in the center you could be of by 5" front or rear of coil. but depth somethings wrong.?
try to do a factory default reset. then turn it on with the coil in the air and when you ground balance /noise cancell make sure your not on any metal.

Hi Barber, You may have a technical problem but I dug a target a few months ago using my Quattro and it was right at 12" deep. I have mine in the all-metal mode using Ferrous tones and use the front tip of the coil to pinpoint with. Sensitivity is usually between 15 and 18. Thresh is 17. Trash Density is at low. Response time is very very slow. You have to let the Threshold reset to detect the next target. If I'm not in a hurry I love using the Quattro. It really is a deep detector Barber. I hope this is helpful but if not I would be happy to help you any other way I can. God Bless Barber.

Andy Sabisch's book? Does it have anything about the Minelab Quattro in it and where do you get it? The manual that comes with the Quattro is limited and would like to find out more about my machine.

I don't know anything about the book, but I did run across this site that has it listed. Perhaps it may help you.
