Hello everybody,
My name is Evans. Yes,that is my first name. I am new to metal detecting.(about two months) I have an Ace 250 which I like, and I just got a Tesoro Tejon. I used the Tejon for the first time this weekend. It will take some practice to get use to it,however I do really like it. I really enjoy Treasure Quest. You guys are the Greatest. I have gotten alot of good information from this site and the forums here.So far I have only found clad coins. I have been MDing at the beach but haven't found much. I'm sure that I'll have more success when the beaches get busier. Well, you all have fun MDing, and may all the ground east of the Mississippi thaw out soon !!

Hello Gordie and Patrick. This is a great site and I'm learning alot here. Thanks for the advice Chuck. I do notice that the Tejon is alot more sensitive than the Ace 250. I will have to practice alot with it. Take care everybody.

Default Listen to Chuck...

...because he is right on target about the Tejon. I recently interviewed James Gifford, Tesoro's president, and he stressed that the Tejon, because of the electronics behind its depth and sensitivity, requires some extra learning time. He jokingly said that if a person used it who had never used a detector before, he "would probably wrap it around a tree after two hours." That just means do some solid bench testing, set up a test garden in the backyard and enjoy the learning curve! The results will be great -- go get 'em!
