Smile Received my new Ace

I got home from work today and found my ACE 250 sitting on the front porch. I read through the manual, put it together and went out for about 30 minutes. I did not find anything of value, but did find two pieces of an old "tab" pop can, a screw and a metal can lid. This was very exciting even if it was nothing. I enjoyed it quite a bit and hope to get back out there soon. I appreciate everyone's help on my last thread and the thoroughness of this site. Thanks!

Default 2nd Day Out

Well, I got some time last night to go out and get used to the md. I dug my first clad quarter (1979-The year I was born) and went on to find one more quarter and a penny. I did find one very interesting thing: a Woodmen of the World Coin. It was pretty corroded so I could not find a year, but doing some research it may be as old as the 1920's. Other then these finds just a lot of trash, but thats OK it good learning.

BouseHouse, I think it's interesting that the first coin you found was the year of your birth. The first coin I found with my Ace250 was a 1970 dime and I was born THAT year! I think that the Ace250 may have some sort of supernatural powers.

Boobie! when I was home (KY) this last September, I went walking through this abandoned cemetary with my sister. We found several wood log headstones, some large some small, that she said are woodsmen of the world stones. How very interesting.

Bouse, I think that coin is a GREAT find for your second time out. Very exciting. Keep it up!

This article on detector base mentions info on the Woodsmen as well-

DetectorBase.com - Article: Lumber Camp Rediscovered

Keep us posted on how the ACE is working.
Good Luck!

I have some photos at home of a couple of the stones I saw in KY. Not to take away from Bouse's thread, but if you would like me to post them, I will.

Pris,

That would be pretty neat to post those pics. I tried to photograph and scan my coin, but it is too far corroded for any clear picture. I think it would be neat in case anyone else finds or has found something similar. Thanks for replying and I look forward to the pics.

Boobie thanks for the info it was interesting. I am trying to figure out if we had an active lodge in the community where I live. No luck yet.

Default woodmen of the world photos

Here you go. These were taken in November, not September. My sister and I had a nice time walking through this little abandoned cemetary. I have seen it often and wanted to walk through, but just never did until last year. I actually took some rather eerie photos of a bunch of other stones. Enjoy!

Thanks for the pics. Those are certainly interesting and unique grave markers. I have never seen any like it around here. It's pretty interesting what a day of metal detecting will turn into. I've been doing nothing but research on the Woodmen since I found it.
