Default Howdy from West Texas

My name is Suzy and I live in the "beautiful" town of Big Spring, TX. My husband bought me a used White's 6000 Di Pro SL about 7 years ago. Something was wrong with it so I never used it. I finally sent it off to get repaired and got it back about 10 days ago. Yippee! After practicing in my yard for about a week, I finally went out this weekend to a local city park that has a long history involving Indians, Spaniards, Calvary and pioneers. Unfortunately, I only found a bunch of junk, some change and a piece of jewelry (not worth anything). But I did have fun and my butt is really sore! I also have an interesting sunburn on my back right above my wasteline. Oops!
Anyway, I am still learning my machine and I just ordered a Vibra Probe. I am thinking about buying a Garrett Infinium LS. We go kayak fishing on the coast and I thought it would be fun to MD on some of the small islands. Anyone have this machine? Do you like it?

Default Welcome

Good to have you here. Looking forward to seeing some of those Texas finds. Just hang in there the finds will come with time. I try to think of my less than desirable finds not as junk but just one more step in my learning process. Boy I sure have been learning alot lately.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting.

Wink 6000 Di Pro

I have used the 6000 DI Pro for many years, it is an excellent detector and has produced many great finds. It is the only detector I have had make good finds while malfunctioning. I recovered several old Wheaties as well as a Canadian large cent with other 'keepers' at a house site before sending it in for repair.

Both my parents owned this model, and spent many happy days detecting with them before they passed away. I gave one to my Nephew and still have the other one in my collection of useful machines.

Learn to listen to this machine and you will be able to tell the difference between a penny, a silver dime and a silver quarter etc.

Joe

With such a long history at that park, you should keep on searching it. There are treasures hidden within all that trash.

Hi Suzy and welcome to TQ. I used a 6000 Di Pro for many years and had alot of success with it. They are good machines. Keep practicing and the more you learn the machine the better finds will come. It sounds like you are off to a good start. Ask any questions you may have and someone here will have the answer. Good luck!

Hi Suzy.
I think you'll like the 6000. They were good detectors that have found a lot of coins over the years. As far as the Infinium goes ; this is a detector that will take some time to get used to. Some like it some don't. All in all its a pretty good all around detector that really can be used everywhere.
Let me know if you need more info on it.
And
GOOD LUCK with your 6000

Welcome Suzi (from a fellow Texan) I was born in Lamesa but moved to N. Central Tx when I was very young. Used to have relatives spread from Big Spring to Lubbock. Not many left. The story goes that my Grandfather bought the very first truck sold in Big Spring. Back in the 20's or 30's I think. He lived in Midway.
Anyway, welcome and I hope you find a lot of things to tell us about. My main 'tector is a GTI 1500. This particluar MD is new to me so I'm still learning it.
Later.........Al

Good Luck
