i just purchased a ace150 and my buddy has a ace 250 we use them together to cover more ground. i have a few hours logged practicing with mine. i work for jewlery tv show so i have access to gold and silver.we practiced listening to the sounds the ace makes with coins bottle caps nails and gold and silver. the gold always shows up as a ring on my display even on a very low sensitivty setting.
here is my deal.i went to a river down the raod from me this river has a great history of indians and gold and so on. they are building a boat ramp for small boats there really is no public access so not alot of folks know this place. anyway the boat ramp is being dug and it goes into the river at an angle its proably 5-6 feet down at the deepest point. i ran my ace all over and nothing but dead silence then it started making all kinds of noise i found a spot and it kept dinging and it was stuck on ring so i gug about 8 inches more and hit a big rock im mean big. my question is why is my detector reading this big rock?the rock kind of brittle i was able to chip some away with a small shovel. is there something under it maybe? is there maybe traces of gold in it.since then i have ran it over many diffrent rocks and nothing. should i dig this monster up before its covered with concrete? |

so have you ever done something like this?dug up a big rock ? is it normal for metal detectors to read a rock as a ring or gold? we plan on going back sunday with bigger gear for the dig hopefully its not a waste of time.
this place is cool though all the trees around the area are monsters and the area is hidden. pretty well so hopefully it will run smoothly. |
