Default new & looking for hunts in nw mo or kansas

Hello. Rob Hayhurst, two years army retired and finally founda job that has some travel and weekends off so I'm looking forward to trying my long held desire to go detecting and I do need to get some excercise. I'm currently in platte city mo for 10 days and will be at fort riley kansas for a month after that. Are there clubs or groups who can use or want or let pay for joining in a established hunt in these or close areas? My gut feeling is many are secretive of their spots but I'm not greedy. just like the thrill of finding something. Id share whatever or if ever I fing anything. thanks Rob

Lightbulb Find a club

Reb64, go to Lost Treasure Online and check out the links on the left side of their home page for 'Treasure Buddies' and 'Clubs & Associations' search them by state/city/zip for someone near where you are. Also look up the history of the post you are going to and you can probably find something interesting to hunt there as well (permission from the post commander may be required, but is usually easy to obtain with a written request to allow you to persue your hobby.. you get the drift.)

Happy hunting,

Joe

Default Manhattan info

I lived in Manhattan Kansas for several years. There are several good places to go. As far as Fort Riley goes, I would love to go there myself but several of my friends have and were escorted out. It is a military base and there are a lot of live rounds still being recovered. FYI ... Custer was stationed there and was a calvary post for many years. I would recommend the smaller towns to the north. My home town is Blue Rapids which is about 45 minutes north. It has the oldest library west of the Mississippi and Alcove Springs is very close by which was a stopping point for the wagon trains. Waterville is only 4 miles away and it also has some good hunting. Marysville is 11 miles north of Blue Rapids and has a very nice park as well. I have hunted all over these areas and it is still being hunted and coins and relics are still being found. The park in the middle of Blue Rapids town square is still yielding many old coins. I have met people from several states hunting there as well. If you get the chance do some research on the old towns and I think you will find it very helpful. The people are very friendly and they will help you more than anything. Good luck and let me know if you go there and what you find.
