Default wva laws

the state parks in logan and mingo counties are closed to metal detecting,i emailed chief logan park and cabwaylingo parks and asked for permission but got a big o no way.all historical sites are also off limits.i knock on doors and check with people who own the land and southern part of wva usually easy to get permission and not to many people that detect.the strip jobs(coalmining) are covering up most of the older places up so beter out run mr dozer, but they are a few old mining towns still not been hurt look at frees ghoast towns and check it out lots of them listed hope this helps you ...creekrat

I emailed the state park service a few months back. You can ONLY metal detect on WV Parks if you have lost something like a wedding band. Anything out side of that is a no go.

What part of WV are you from? I am in the eastern panhandle.
