Hi, I'm new in this forum, and to metal detecting altogether, and I have to ask a couple of questions:
Does a coil cover decrease the detecting power of the equipment? Would it be possible to put the coil side wrapped inside a good plastic bag and use the detector in shallow water? The detector I just bought is a Tejón. Many thanks in advance. |

Welcome. The signal your detector is putting out is very simlular to radio signal. it will penetrate plastic with ease so no a cover does not affect your signal strength. And most coils are water proof. Most manufactures today seal their coils against moisture and water. THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS SO ALWAYS CHECK YOUR MANUALS. If the coil you are useing is an after market coil check the liturature that came with the coil. Again welcome to TQ and HAPPY HUNTIN
