Talking Headphones!

Does the make of my metal detecter determine what kind of headphones i can use? I want to get a pair for my PioneerEX and am wondering if i have to bye a certain type or are headphones universal? Also does anyone have any headphones (not to expensive) that they would recommend I get?

AJ

Default Headphones

I'm not an expert, but I think they are a must have. The pair I use was originally
purchased for our electric keyboard, it has two different size jacks, the larger jack fits my Whites, buy a good set is on my wish list. Hopefully someone will tell us both about a good cheap (or not so expensive) set. HH Bob.B

I use the Koss UR30I feel they are one of the best...nothing beats a good set of phones. They sell for about $40

The new Koss Noise Reduction headphone was designed for treasure hunters who operate their detectors in very noisy environments like oceans, city parks or any area that the outside noise is at a high level. Koss has designed this headset with a very good PASSIVE NOISE REDUCTION SYSTEM. Its this passive system that enables these phones to cloak over 80% of all outside noise. This headphone is very well made and will last for many years (so well made that Koss offers their lifetime warranty). This is one high quality set of headphones.
Features:

Passive noise reduction system • Frequency Response: 40-20,000 HZ • 1/4 inch stereo gold plated plug • Adjustable Stainless Steel Padded headband • Heavy duty replaceable Ear pads

Default Headphones

I hunt mainly in the woods too and I like being aware on whats going on around me, there is however a one ear headset made for that purpose does anyone have one of those and how do you like it? I really need a headset as my hearing is getting bad the older I get the worst it gets and I have trouble hearing low and sometimes high tones.

Default try radio shack....

...they have some good ones.they should have adapters for headphones too. koss and grey ghost are probably better though. i use 2 kinds. a heavy pair that came with my detector for winter and a light weight pair for hot weather.both are cheap kinds. try david at dixie detectors. i am sure he has good stuff.
i surf alot of detecting sites and have never heard a bad word about his business.i dont know if he has koss headphones but beleive he has grey ghost.

greg where do you get the koss phones at? i think i want a set.

Hi Tom,

I got my Koss UR30 free with my EX II purchase from Kellyco.

Just a word about Dixie-Detectors.
John and I spoke to Dave the owner for about 30 minutes on the phone a while back and what a nice guy.
He's getting all my business from now on. If you see something that you want from kellyco or another shop then call Dave, He'll match that price.
John and I are getting ready to order the Vibra-Probe from him.

I believe he has the Koss phones Tom, give him a call.
