Hi- Minelab, He showed up on my door step on christmas day is was cold that year... I swore i done stole someones christmas pup. I ask'ed all over as i was sure he couldnt have gotten far by himself. He was maybe 6 to 8 wks old. I later found out that he was an exscapee from a home a block away. where a litter of pups and there mom broke out there fence the day after Christmas. The owners were worried somthing bad must have had happen and was delighted that he was healthy and being taking care of. Wipes the tears from my eyes, snif snif.. sad story ..however true story ..
to this day he doesnt know he a Dog.

KC Chick, I miss all kinds of great post on this site..However tell Tony I need a large set of head phones, i think he gave me a kids set... lol and the MXT need a Back Light! The tones are like trying to tune in a Am radio station. I personally think if possiable other type of tones would be less annoying. I have learned all ready that you listen to the breaks in the electric field. Double check the breaks - then move on. In short just seems like the tones could use some dressing up. which has nothing to do with proformance... this is like a well tuned V8 engine. You dont miss anyhting unless you happen to go to fast. but if it says its there , ... it is. Mostly my complains are cosmedic
Cons:
Tones are drab and somewhat annoying.. hoping i can get use to it.
Head Phones are too small for my big head and the cord is to coilded up.. need a looser cord - not so springy.
No Volume Control! However the head set makes the machine by being able to hear the interputions to the electric field.
This is why the exsperinced people say it all about the tones!
No Back Lighting! Hard to hunt at night; for a new person.
Having said that your going to need a hat light anyways, backlight or not..so you can see to dig..
Can be a bit heavy for a new person. Luckly for me Im use to it.
thats about it..
The pros:
It is Strong and deep.
It tell you alot about your target before you dig.
X marks the spot. Dead on.
It doesnt miss anything inside of 10in and you go slow enought you'll pick up even more!
Set and go... easy to set up for an advanced machine.

other than them couple items I am Ok with the machine. It is in a leauge of it own for sure.. I found a 22 short rim riffle lead bullet 8inches down today.

Default Updating the Cons of the MXT

Head phones that come with the mxt are cheaply made and shouldn't be a part of Package.
The tones do grow on you and quite aren't as annoying as before. As a new player I am Still Learning about the way the MXT performs. One things that seems to be coming to light is the fact that these tones act more like a waves... this is hard to explain but like the BH the tones are cut and dry... where MXT tones have suddle differences. Doesn't matter - eventually your going to have to dig 95% of all the targets if you want to find the old stuff. which most don't understand when they come in green to this hobby; like I did. I must say, I would not change my decision on the MXT any because of the control it give you to decide on to dig. Pluss, as I grow in my understanding- I'll have a machine that wont need upgrading for any reason.
I am still missing backlighting, however I read just recently; here on this forum that a lil led stick on light works well.
Still messing the volume control, however when I do run the machine without head phones, I want it full blast anyways. There are times where I don't want to wear the head phones { lil cumbersome } in some place the machine is wack'd loud when pin pointing.
Weight, you get use to it, it isn't near as bad as some of the digging you will encounter. Besides, I can switch arms and not miss a beat.
Also as a new Player, other than the BH, I haven't any other experience with other machines, However I have the feeling that I have much more a machine than I actually realize compared to some others machine you can get with a lower price tag.
