Default Criminal Trespass, it is against the law to be on railroad tracks

Criminal Trespass, it is against the law to be on railroad tracks. Since railroad tracks are private property, you can be arrested for trespassing (walking, taking a shortcut) on them. If convicted of this offense, you will be subject to a fine of not less than $100 and/or imprisonment.

wonderful...

I don't think that's really enforced to any extent...except in the case of vandalism...we have hiking trails in Colorado that follow RR tracks...and I'm sure as long as folks behave themselves - fear of arrest is pretty unnecessary...

aye, I can imagine some places are softer than others.. here in SC these follks like to mess with your world bad if you cross the wrong person around private land. If your not in the click or in the know.. dont even ask...

a little rant time: On State Owned land they now let Bikes trail and traffic while Deer Season is in Progress. I personally saw several people while I was Deer Hunting just come ridding thru the woods.. Another reason I gave up deer hunting.. how dangerious is that... and this a new thing here with biker riders and deer hunters in the woods together with two totally differnt agenda's.. 0 well, stupid is as stupid does..

Default Trespass

That's the way it is around here too Larry. I talked with a Railroad Detective and he told me they never bothered anyone UNLESS they were found messing around with one of the train cars. I've walked the railroad line all my life and never had anyone say anything to me about it. Picking up coal and spikes to make knives out of and such. He even told me they didn't say anything to anyone picking up coal or coke as long as they were not getting it off the cars.

What make me sick, is they justify it by saying, it is for your protection.
that is a large pile of crap. its all about the rich elite and their influence and the ability to exploit me and you when possible. It never fails, as I get to researching the the in's and out's of this hobby or any sport hobby - ya read the horriable stories that happen to innocent folks.
I have emailed just about ever spot I know in the Gov. detailing my disgruntle feelings about the people in this hobby being labeled " looters "
Im shutting up now, these kinds of issue just make me mad.
beside Im know im preaching to the choir.

I work for the railroad and YES it is for your protection to stay off the tracks. Every year we loose quite a few railroad workers because they wern't paying attention and get hit by a train, and they are very aware of the dangers. So its easy to have your attention on something else and forget the train behind you. Now enough of that preaching so......
