Welcome home!
![]() 200 yards from the beach!! ![]() ![]() If you're that close to a beach, you definitely want one that you can take out there with you! JohnJ and many others do quite well on the beaches in dry sand with the ACE 250, and that's an awesome machine with a great learning curve in a pretty price range... otherwise, I would have to ask what you're willing to spend. Because one of the most awesome is easily the Minelab Excalibur series, but it's a little up there but quite worth it... just some thoughts... ![]() I probably confused you more... but these other fine folks will have lots of thoughts, I'm sure! :grinningelf: Can't wait to see what you get into!!

Dew1024,
Welcome to TQ! Good advice from KellyCoChick, first you have to decide on a price range. Just like buyin a car, md's come in many different models and various price ranges. If we know how much you're lookin to spend, then we can help you out a little more. Good luck, and hope to be talkin to ya. |

First, welcome to TreasureQuest! I hope you will spend some time reading the great posts and information available here but don't be afraid to ask, just like you are doing now!
If you are planning to hunt in the water, you want a detector that is completely submersible. It doesn't have to be pricey but, as you go along learning about detectors, you will see that there are many choices to make. One thing you should consider is how much trash there is in the water and the dry sand. If you are seeing moret than a couple pulltabs in a square foot of sand, that's my definition of a high trash area. So you will need to look at that. The price you want to pay will reduce or expand your options. You will need to define that. So, if you can tell us: 1) Water hunting and/or dry hunting? 2) Trashy beach or clean beach? 3) Your price range? We can make a few suggestions for you to consider! ![]()

Hi and welcome to TQ.
I have a Minelab Excalibur and like Ali said, the price is up there, but it is a great detector, water proof, great iron discrimination and goes deeep! I used it on my vacation to the beach and loved it. If it's more than you want to spend, I'm sure others will chime in with their experience on them. And like JC said, talk to one of the TQ sponsors, they will be more than willing to help you. Again welcome to TQ and let us know which detector that you decide on!
