Hi Bob, wow that is really neat! I have worked in 2 way radio in the past troubleshooting and repairing business band, public saftey systems and others. But I have been a Nuke for the last 18 years. I was never in the Military but almost joined the Air Force right after Vietnam. I had a couple of friends at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson that talked me out of it. We sometimes have more in common than ever thought! Ok I will chat to you later and take care. Dah Dit Dah.

They are not available here yet but there are some super duper long lasting AA batteries hitting the market. Here is the news link: New double-A battery outlasts competition - Innovation - MSNBC.com

Do the new lithium batteries last long enough to justify the cost?

I will only use alkalines in the New F75 for a while..batts last over 25 hrs.But I mostly use lipo's..lithiums in my RC helicopter
and other Rc stuff, I say yes as long as you charge or discharge them correctly..they seem to work great in the Digital cameras and cam corders.and outshine other batts under extreme power consumption..electric motors, servos and such...theres several good venders that sell good rated Batts and hump packs..But I am new to MD but Thinking most machines have a low current Draw rating..And most recharge batts voltage is a little less than the alkys unless you get the Battery packs (hump pack)..Just my experiance. But theres some new technoligy on the horizon..With the price of fossile fuels rizeing the Batt technoligy will only get Better and more expensive..james

Wow I just went back and was reading my F75 manual and it states for Battery life..
High quality alkalines typically ...........40 hours
nickel oxyhydroxide estimated ........80 hours
lithium iron disulfide estimated......... 65 hours
...Now that long run times..I might just get me a set of good recharge Batts..Hope this give you a comparison..james
