Default Battery type vs performance?

Does the type of battery a MD takes affect the performance of the machine? What I'm asking is, do machines that take a couple 9v batteries perform better than those that take 4 AA batteries? Also which type last longer from a power point of view?

Does the convience of touch pads and other digital equipment wear out in a reletivly short period of time vs those with knobs to dial in the settings?

I think it depends on the Machine build, My new F75 uses 4 AA Batts alki's and will last 30 Hours and Its a HOT little machine..My wifes Titan 2000 XD which is a great coinshooter and little machine uses 2 9 volts and will Drain down in about 15 hours, I am sure the kind of processor, electronics makes a huge difference in Battery life and performance and what the Makers want the machine to do..Without a wireing schematic its hard to tell How there built..

Liquid's right, I think it depends on what voltage the machine is designed to run on. And from my limited knowledge of electronics, I would say that the most important thing is how energy effiecient it is, the deciding factor would be the draw and the amp hours of the batteries, not so much the voltage of the batteries.

Modern day circuit boards use very small voltage amounts. My X-70 uses 4 AA batts. It can run 36 hours of use on these. No real direct corolation as to batt size and how long it runs, Beale.

I think it depends on machine design, and I have also read that headphones make batteries last longer. That one I can't figure out.?

The smaller speakers draw less amperage making the batteries last longer.

BATTERIES COME IN A LOT OF DIFFERENT RATINGS. A COMBINATION OF THE MACHINES CURRENT DEMAND WHEN IN USE AND THE CURRENT RATING OF THE BATTERIES GOES HAND IN HAND. THE NEW OXYRIDE BATTERIES WILL LAST MUCH LONGER THAN STANDARD ALKALINES. ALSO THE VOLTAGE RATING CAN GREATLY AFFECT LIFESPAN TOO. I TRIED THE 1.2V RECHARGEABLE AA BATTERIES KNOWING THEY WOULD NOT LAST NEAR AS LONG AS A STANDARD 1.5V AA. I WAS RIGHT AND DID NOT USE THEM AGAIN.

AS FAR AS THE TOUCH CONTROLS ON THE DIGITAL MACHINES, AT SOME POINT IN TIME THESE MEMBRANE TYPE SWITCHES WILL HAVE PROBLEMS JUST DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE MATERIAL THAT COVERS THEM WILL BEGIN TO CRACK AND DETERIATE. ON THE OTHER HAND THE ANALOG POTENTIOMETERS HAVE A SWIPER ARM CONTACTING A CARBON STRIP WHICH OVER TIME WILL BECOME ERRATIC AND NEED TO BE CLEANED OUT WITH A SPRAY TYPE CONTACT CLEANER. THE CARBON MATERIAL WILL BEGIN TO HAVE MINUTE SPECKS OF IT COME LOOSE UNDER THE SWIPER CONTACT WHICH WILL MAKE IT ERRATIC.

I HOPE THIS IS HELPUL AND HAPPY HUNTING EVERYONE. GOD BLESS.

Hi John... hope all is well with you.

I have tried rechargeables and had a different experience.

I've been using - MAHA POWEREX 2700 mAh AA4 NiMH Rechargeable Batteries2 Fre..
for the last month or so and love them. They're 2700 mAh NiMh and I'm very happy with them, so far.

Bob

LOL (Dit Dah Dit Dit, Dah Dah DAh, Dit Dah Dit Dit)

Didn't you were a code guy, John.

Still learning it.. but I think it's great. By the way, let me know if Minelab ever comes out with a 3 kHz DD coil, my money will be on the way.
